Q -How can I enter the 2015 Chelmsford Marathon?

A – Entries for the 2015 Chelmsford Marathon are now open. You can register online CLICK HERE or use the contact form to request a paper sign up form.

Q – How much does it cost to register?

A – Registration is £38 for Affiliated Runners and £40 for Unaffiliated Runners. Affiliated Runners will have to provide their URN at sign up to received discounted rate.

Q- Are there conditions of entry?

A- Yes please see Marathon Conditions of Entry.

Q -How many places are there in the Chelmsford Marathon?

A – 800, entries are sold on a first come first served basis.

 

Q- Is the course the same as the 2014 Chelmsford Marathon?

A- No for 2015 we have a brand new course. With the help of Springfield Striders the course is now single lapped starting outside the iconic Shire Hall in the City Centre taking runners throughout the City of Chelmsford and surrounding Villages. Please see course map for more information.

Q – Is the Chelmsford Marathon UK Athletics certified?

A-  The race is currently in the licensing process for the UK Athletics Association. The course is also in the stages of being certified by the UK Course Measurer Association.

 

Q – What type of surface track does the route take?

A- The Chelmsford Marathon is a single lapped 26.2 mile course classified as fairly flat with some undulations. The course comprises of road running and tarmac paths.

 

Q- How old must I be to enter the Chelmsford Marathon?

A- Marathon entrants must be 18 or above on the day of the race.

 

Q – Where does the race start and finish?

A – There is a new Start and Finish location for the 2015 Chelmsford Marathon:

Event Hub and Finish Line: Central Park

Start: Shire Hall, Chelmsford Town Centre

 

Q – What is the Event Hub?

A – Central Park is the Event Hub with all the runners’ facilities such as toilets, bag drop, runner enquiries and refreshments. Runners are advised to arrive in Central Park to make use of the facilities then make your way to Shire Hall in the Town Centre to begin the waved start line up- this is around a 10 minute walk.

Q- What time does the race start?

A – Timings: The event hub will be open from 7.30am. The waved start line up will take place at 8.30am for a 9am start.  Please note no late starters will be accepted due to Sunday shopping hours.

Q – Do I need to finish the Race by a certain time?

A- Yes,all runners will need to finish the race by 5pm for health and safety reasons

Q – Can I use my iPod or similar device on race day?

A – No, the use of headphones/earphones are banned on the race day. This is due to the nature race to listen to Marshal Instructions and any safety requirements on the course. In addition, wearing anything that isolates you from the sounds of the day would mean that you would miss out on the marathon atmosphere.

Q – When will we receive our running packs?

A- The running packs will be sent out on the 5th of October. Running packs will include: running numbers with Chip Timing system attached; Runners Technical T-shirts; safety pins and on the day Race information.

Q – Can you sign up on the day?

A – No, you must pre-register.

Q- Do we get a T-shirt?

A- Yes, all Chelmsford Marathon participants will receive a Technical T-shirt prior to the event day. These will be sent out in the runner’s packs and participants are encouraged to wear the T-shirts on the event day to create a sea of purple around Chelmsford. Sizes are all Unisex and range from XS-XL. T-Shirt sizes come on a first come first served bases.

Q – Do we get a medal?

A – Yes they will be presented at the finish line.

Q – Will there be refreshment stops?

A- Yes, in selected areas water stations will be available. More information regarding refreshments will be issued nearer the event date.

Q – Can I run in fancy dress?

A – Yes this is allowed of course, but please bear in mind the race day weather conditions and appropriate fluid intake should your fancy dress layers leave you needing extra hydration.

Q – I would like to volunteer on the day for your 2015 event, how do I register?

A – Please see the Volunteers page of our website.

Q – When does registration for the race close?

A – Registration will close on the 8th of October or once the race has be filled.

Q – Will there be chip timing?

A – Yes, you will receive your chip in your race pack. Remember: no chip, no time. The timing chip is disposable and doesn’t need to be returned after the race, or if you are unable to run. Runners do not need to register on the event day.

Q – Will there be a place for me to leave my bags?

A – Yes, there will be a baggage storage area for runners at the Event Hub. Please attach the label from your running number securely and visibly to your bag. You will need your running number to collect your bag after the race. More information will be in the race pack.

Q – I am thinking about staying in Chelmsford; where do you suggest?

A – Chelmsford has lots of lovely of hotels and B&B’s. We suggest that once you’ve entered, you book early to avoid disappointment.

Q- Is there parking?

A- Yes there are several car parks within the Town Centre of Chelmsford. More information will be provided nearer the event day.

Q- Are there pacers on the day?

A- Yes, we have pacers at the following times:

3 Hours , 3.45 Hours, 4 Hours, 4.30 Hours and 5 Hours
